Our physical therapists work with children, from infancy through adolescence to facilitate gross motor and sensory development while improving function, safety and independence.  Physical therapy (PT) intervention promotes strength, balance, coordination and movement skills.

PT can be beneficial for children with a wide variety of diagnoses and limitations that include: developmental delay, plagiocephaly/torticollis, high risk/premature infants, cerebral palsy, hypotonia, hypertonia, developmental coordination disorders, ASD, spina bifida, and brain injuries.

Our PT will complete a  comprehensive evaluation of your child's gross motor development and based upon this evaluation recommend a frequency and duration of treatment sessions.  Treatment sessions can vary in length and can be performed in an individualized or group setting. Your physical therapist will implement an individualized treatment plan, inclusive of family training, to assist each child in reaching their maximal potential.

"I have been a physical therapist for over 20 years. After graduating from Northeastern University I worked with adults at Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in East Orange, NJ. I soon realized that I missed working with the pediatric population like I did on my clinical rotation at Children’s Specialized Hospital, so I made a move to the public school setting through St. Barnabus Medical Center. I also worked with children in both the in patient and out patient setting at St. Barnabus. I spent 5 years at Children’s Specialized Hospital at the Mountainside and Fanwood facilities. I gained experience working with children diagnosed with traumatic brain injury, neurological disorders and orthopedic impairments. I also spent 2 years in early intervention treating babies from birth-3 years of age in their homes. I have been in the Scotch Plains-Fanwood School District for the past 9 years helping students achieve independence in the school environment. I recently joined the Therapy Garage and look forward to developing fun, but challenging treatment sessions in order for my clients to reach their highest potential.

Over the years I have attended a wide variety of continued education courses, from Evaluation and Treatment of Balance Impairments in Children, or Pediatric Yoga and Mindfulness to Primitive Reflex, Sensory and Motor Integration."
